We came to this place by way of Agoda.com.

We were about to leave Lampang for Chiang Rai, didn’t know where we would stay, and checked the prices and ratings on Agoda.  Laluna came up favorably.

It’s reasonably priced by Chiang Ria standards, but expensive by Thailand standards. We paid $60 US (1800 baht) for a room with a king bed. That’s three times the cost of nice places we have stayed elsewhere.

But this is Chiang Rai…and Chiang Rai ain’t cheap.

It is very much a resort. It’s got a pool. It’s got a bar. It’s got a restaurant. It’s way pricey for everything that’s added to the room charge.

A breakfast buffet is included in the room price, but the coffee sucks and the food is marginal at best.

But it is clean, and the rooms are nice, and the staff is deferential –  although the rooms are lacking in soundproofing, as we could hear our neighbors at times.

If you have the discipline to not eat at it’s restaurant, and not drink at it’s bar, this is a decent – albeit a bit pricey – option.
