Both Jen and I are traveling with Chocos as our only footwear. We have been walking around in them – with and without packs on our backs, on pavement and through mud – for about a month and a half now.

The Z2 model has a toe loop that fits over the big toe. I machinated quite a while before choosing if over the standard, no-toe-loop variants. The thinking is that the toe loop is better for hiking. Without wearing the Z1, I xant really comment in that, although the toe loop can make it somewhat more challenging to put the sandal on, and you can get chafe on both the big toe and the adjoining toe. None of this is significant, but I am now interested in trying the Z1 model in the future.

Overall, we are satisfied with our sandals. They perform as advertised, and are vert comfortable. They are good for both leisure walking and hiking.

One thing about them, though, is they can’t start Snelling pretty ripe. The top of the sole has a mild pattern for traction that collects dirt and dead skin and sweat. The straps collect the same. This means a good scrubbing every couple of days, unless you want to get kicked off the next public bus.

A final comment on fit…

Jen’s sandals fit correctly out of the box. Mine did not, so I sent them to Choco for adjustment, for which I was charged a few bucks. The sandals were returned with the correct alterations, in a timely manner.
