Vieng Sawan is a straight-forward, no-nonsense, high-volume eatery that is an obvious favorite with Laotian locals. It’s furnishings are basic tables and chairs in a single open space, and are strictly geared towards feeding. It is not a place with atmosphere – don’t take a date there for some romantic wooing.

What it does have is decent food at a decent price, quickly prepared.

It’s specialties are spring rolls, and a dish of various meats – some cooked by customers themselves in a pot at their tables – served with various vegetables for combining by hand.

Vegetarian options are limited to one type of spring roll and a bowl of noodles and vegetables.

If you are a meat-eater, and not looking for atmosphere, this would be a good joint to visit.

A word of warning… The staff’s attitude is indifference. No warmth at all that we noted. They serve you, but they don’t interact well. They also don’t try much at all to help a visitor with understanding their menu.
