Hawai’i Nui brewing is located in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. Their beers can be found in some of the stores here on Oahu. The two beers I have seen are their Sunset Amber Ale and Kaua’i Golden Ale.
Right now, I am having a go at the Sunset Amber Ale.
They say it’s a medium bodied brew, and I’d say that’s accurate. It’s flavorful, and reminds me of the amber / red ales I made when I was doing a lot of home brewing.
And it sure has a thick head to it, as you can see from the photo. That head was after a slow and careful pour, and also reminds me of my home brews.
Overall, it’s a decent beer. It’s not a unique beer, but it is a good representation of the style.
I rate it as “Drink It if There is Nothing Better in the Fridge.”
