Upcountry Bed and Breakfast is located just off the Kula Highway, in Upcountry Maui. It’s about 12 miles from Kahului, and some 28 miles from the summit of Haleakela.

We chose this place because there aren’t many options in Upcountry, and this one had the best reviews in TripAdvisor and Expedia.

It’s a single large house, with four guest rooms. The rooms have their own baths and balcony access, with great views of the western half of Maui. The house is situated on a lot in the middle of residential housing.

Mike, the owner, is an outgoing person who runs the place with his lab, Gabby.

It’s an OK place if you are looking for a nearby way station for exploring Haleakala – someplace to sleep at the end of the day. If, however, you are looking for a place to hang around and lounge, you would be better served staying elsewhere.
