We went on a hike on the Keaiwa Heiau Trail, which is also called the Aiea Loop Trail. It’s a 4-1/2 mile loop that starts and ends at a park located in Aiea Heights, at the upper end of Aiea Heights Road. It’s a fairly easy trail, without too much up and down by Hawaii standards. Views are limited, except for a few peaks of Pearl Harbor and a good look down at the H3 highway. The trees are a bit different from most trails, in that there is a lot of a birch type of tree (yeah, I am short on the botanical skills). A couple other hikers pointed out three sandalwood trees, which they said are very rare anymore. Overall, it’s a pleasant walk that is easy on your four-legged friends, and would be a fairly decent trail for running.
