The Ruean Thai hotel is listed in the Lonely Planet guide as a mid-range hotel. We got a basic room, with king sized bed, for about $40 US a night (off-season rate).  That’s a bit pricey in a location where budget accommodations can be had in the $10 US range.

But it’s a nice place, with lots of wood construction, and a good state of maintenance. It was a comfortable place to stay.

It is a bit of a walk from the hotel to the market and restaurant areas of the city (twenty to thirty minutes), which is it’s only real downside (other than cost). This is offset a bit by free shuttle service and some bicycles available at the hotel.

There’s an included breakfast, with four options. Mostly Western-style choices.

There is a swimming pool in the center of the compound, and an on-site restaurant that, while not particularly great, is on par with everywhere else we ate.

Oh…and there is free wireless internet.

Finally, for us guys, the coolest thing is the wall mounted urinal in the room; which encases your manhood just right to allow standing while preventing any back splash. Nice touch.
